After rejecting offers from Roma, Forest, and Wolves which all fell below €30 million (£25m/$34m), Palmeiras are still holding firm on their valuation. Benfica have tabled an offer worth €25m (£21m/$29m) flat, but it still falls short of the Brazilian club’s demands.
Rios has become one of the most sought-after midfielders in the market following standout performances at the Club 世界盃 and in 巴西‘s domestic campaign. Roma have made him a key midfield target and offered €23m (£20m/$26m) plus €3m (£2.5m/$3.5m) in bonuses, but Palmeiras are under no pressure to sell unless their €30m asking price is met.
Rios has reportedly given the green light to join Roma, preferring the 意甲 side over all other suitors, but they will have to up their bid if the deal is to go ahead.
The likes of Forest and Wolves could return with improved offers for the 25-year-old, while Palmeiras may compromise on the fee should the Colombian put pressure on the club for a move.
