Veteran Spanish defender Albiol is on the verge of a return to Serie A after entering advanced negotiations with newly-promoted side Pisa, according to a report from 作為. The 39-year-old, who recently left Villarreal, held a transfer summit with Pisa’s management in Viareggio alongside his agents. The parties have reportedly reached an agreement in principle on a one-year contract with an option for a second season.
The move would fulfill Albiol’s publicly stated “dream” of finishing his career in 義大利, where he previously spent four successful seasons with Napoli. Albiol and Pisa are expected to finalise the financial details of the contract before the defender officially signs for the club.
