- Dowman hails Ngumoha as ‘the best’
- ลิเวอร์พูล youngster scored late winner at Newcastle
- อาร์เซนอล starlet made debut against ลีดส์
After a dramatic 4-2 win over Bournemouth in their season opener, Liverpool picked up yet another thrilling victory on Monday as they clinched a five-goal classic against Newcastle. The Reds took a 2-0 lead against a 10-man Magpies side through Hugo Ekitike and Ryan Gravenberch’s strikes, but the hosts came back with great vigour in the second half and drew the scores level heading into 11 minutes of added time. Super sub Ngumoha then stepped up in the 100th minute and scored the winning goal.
Ngumoha, who turns 17 this Friday, wrote history with his later winner at St James’ Park as he became the second 16-year-old to score a winning goal in a พรีเมียร์ลีก game after แมนเชสเตอร์ยูไนเต็ด legend Wayne Rooney did it for เอฟเวอร์ตัน against Arsenal in October 2002.
Two days earlier, Ngumoha’s อังกฤษ Under-17s team-mate Dowman flourished for Arsenal against Leeds as he became the second-youngest player to represent the Gunners in the Premier League after Ethan Nwaneri. Dowman lauded Ngumoha’s efforts against Newcastle with a social media post, which read: “the best @rio_ngumoha”
With two wins from their first two matches, in-form Arsenal and Liverpool are now all set to lock horns in a blockbuster Premier League match on August 31. Ngumoha and Dowman could come up against each other as rivals on the pitch.
